We provide an interactive identification key for the Korean Lamiaceae family. The key represents common Lamiaceae found on the Korean peninsula, including 67 species (82 taxa). The target taxa were selected based on the following criteria: 1) we created a final list reflecting the most recent taxonomic studies on Korean Lamiaceae based on two lists of taxa regularly updated by two national institutions in Korea ('National Standard Plant List' by Korea National Arboretum and 'National Species List' by Ministry of Environment), then 2) we selected the taxa for which specimens were deposited in the herbaria of Korean National Arboretum (KH) and Sungshin Women's University (SWU), where we can directly observe morphological characters. However, 3) cultivars, introduced species, albino forms, and species distributed only in North Korea were excluded from the list. Based on published taxonomic studies and flora to distinguish these taxa, we reviewed characters and character states and finally determined the 43 qualitative characters and 13 quantitative characters, including the 147 character state. For each taxon, we provided images of the voucher specimens used in this study, the reference of the original description, and ecological images.
